Does anyone know how to do a melisma?

This is a rather difficult singing technique, and I was wondering if anyone had any tips as to how to improve on this. I couldn’t find any instruction on google or yahoo, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

A melisma, by definition can be found in Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melisma

Another resource (NPR) talks about the use/abuse of the melisma. It’s a great article! Here’s an excerpt from the article:

Melisma is the musical art of creating a run of many notes from one syllable. In the United States, singers in the African-American church popularized the vocal practice, which dates to Gregorian chants and Indian ragas. When Sam Cooke, Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin began singing popular music, they brought melisma to more mainstream audiences. Whether you love it or hate it, Whitney Houston’s hit "I Will Always Love You," with its elongated "iiieeee-eyes" and "ooooeeeooos," is a prime example.

How does the writing panel of Jehovah’s Witnesses receive spiritual messages from God; is this psychosis or?

What?

Does the Governing Body all sit in a dark room at night holding hands, singing chants of "Ohmmm UUUMMMM Ohmmm" in order to dictate the beliefs and constant changes throughout the organization?

Does anyone know how it all works, I mean they proclaim to be the "one and only true religion" with no other religion getting direct instruction and clarification from God?

I’ve always wondered this but since nothing else makes sense in the cult I just chalk it up to more cultish behavior. If only the members would stand back and take a look at how ridiculous it all is. It is one thing to worship God in truth and faithfulness, but completely another area of blasphemy to try to make sense of this so-called governing body and panel getting brainfarts from God to give out the medication as needed, so they say.

This troubles me because I was part of this organization for a long time but have realized that it’s all big business and they are fooling so many people with their false worship and dishonesty.

How do I convince my parents to let me play an instrument?

I’m a 12 year old girl. I really want to learn to play an instrument along with singing for a band. The problem is my mom won’t let me because I quit the clarinet two years ago. The reason I quit is because I got bored with being on the same page of my instruction book for a month, even after I could play it, because other kids were still working. I want to take private lessons or teach myself to avoid this problem. What should I do?

Join a school band (not a punk rock band, the marching band)
