Why do pop performers wear earpieces while they’re singing?

I notice that many pop performers wear earpieces (often in both ears) when they’re performing. Surely they can hear what’s going on well enough and don’t have to take instructions or anything from backstage?

It’s usually as a monitor and possibly as a noise reducer, as well. It allows the singer to hear their own voice (or whatever else they want to hear from the stage), which may not be possible due to the direction the speakers are pointed in. Groups may also use them so they can communicate with each other on stage.

So that other noises around them don’t distract them

So that they can monitor their own voices and stay in key.

BECAUSE WHILE THEY ARE SINGING THEY LIKE TO HEAR THEMSELVES OVER THE BAND AND BACKGROUND MUSIC

SO BY HAVING EARPIECES IN THEY CAN HEAR THEIR VOICES MORE THAN THE ACTUAL MUSIC

    YOU CAN DO IT TOO

LIKE THIS:TALK WITHOUT PLUGGING YOUR EARS

THEN TALK WHILE PLUGGING YOUR HEARS AND YOU WILL SEE THE DIFFERENCE

These are usually ear defenders too.

Pop performers risk deafness as a result of the performances.

they r called in ear monitors. its so they can control which sound they hear the more. if they want to hear more bass, and less guitaur, they can control it. its a matter of the performers liking..
