“Perfect Pitch” seems to be a hotly debated topic. Some claim that you can only be born with it, while others say it can be learned. No matter what side of this argument you may fall on, one thing is certain: the ability to call out pitch instantly upon hearing them is a tremendous benefit to any musician. In this Pure Pitch method review, I'll go over all the parts of this very popular course.
Created by music pro Ryan Cameron, the Pure Pitch Method is a step-by-step course designed to teach you how to master pitch recognition in under six weeks. I've got to commend Ryan for this course, I had difficulty as a musician for years before really learning how to recognize ptich. The funny thing is that I actually became a much better musician after mastering pitch recognition, and it improved my guitar playing immensely even though I wasn’t actually working on guitar technique.
What's actually in the Course? Great question. The course is broken down into two separate segments. The Manual is first, and it contains 120 pages of comprehensive lessons and important information. The sheer amount of information can be a bit much, but if you take it one day at a time it will be easy. In fact, each of the 39 lessons is built on the last one, so you will really do yourself a favor if you just take it one step at a time and learn each one completely before moving on.
The manual is actauly broken up into two sections, Note Recognition and Chord Recognition. The course discusses these each on their own and dives into a lot of detail on each.
There are 39 audio lessons that go along with the lesson in the manual. How much time will it take to finish? That really depends on how comfortable you are with your progress, but six weeks is a pretty good ballpark. I took 7 weeks to finish the course, but I was on vacation for 2 of those weeks. My brother finished it in 2 weeks.
Are there any drawbacks? Yes, two come to mind. The whole course (manual and audio) is only available in English, so if that's not a strong suit for you it may not be ideal. However, if you can read and understand my writing right now, you’ll be fine. The second thing is that the Manual comes as an eBook. I was a little disappointed at first, because I wanted to get a book in the mail.
However, I talked to their support and they do this for two reasons. One, you have lifetime access to any updates to the book, and two, you get instant access. I don’t know about you, but I like to get something in my hands as soon as possible after I buy it! The instant download gives you the ability access to whole course in seconds.
My Conclusion? I have gone through countless products and this one is a real winner. MyGuitarGuide.com readers have made their voice heard by giving it very high marks, and if you really don't like it there's a money back guarantee. The best part of the course, hands down, is that it really opens up your ears to new sounds and will make you a better musician. I strongly encourage you to take a look at the Pure Pitch Method Course if you want to be a better musician.
