Biography Of Bring Me The Horizon

Singing Lessons No Comments »

Borrowing a quote from Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean,Bring Me The Horizon is not a fictional character, by any means. Different from your average run-of-the-mill death-core band, they formed their own record company in 2005, Thirty Days of Night, when they released their debut single.

Members of the Band  Since Bring Me the Horizon formed in 2004, they lost Curtis Ward, the previous rhythm guitar player in March of 2009, but the rest of the musicians from Sheffield, Yorkshire still remain with the band. Lead vocalist is Oliver Sykes, lead guitarist is Lee Malia, bass guitarist is Matt Kean with Matt Nicholls still on drums.

Like all young bands in this genre, it has had its trials and tribulations. For example, Sykes had common assault charges filed against him, even though he has always maintained he was innocent. While it was based on a female fan’s allegations, it was dismissed due to lack of evidence.

During a tour with the Architects, a progressive metalcore band from Brighton,   Bring Me the Horizon’s Sykes was filmed being subjected to violent behavior by  Sam Carter of the Architects. It was a viral hit in YouTube, which generated   intense hate mail for Carter although the whole video was done as a staged scene to relieve boredom on the road by both parties.  Discography sales appears to be keeping up with the sales of the band’s three albums, of which the titles, date of release, number of   songs, and chart peaks are as follows:

- This Is What the Edge of Your Seat Was For, 2004, four tracks, and topping at 41 in the United Kingdom.
- Count Your Blessings, 2006, 11 songs, peaked the UK charts at 93.
- Suicide Season, 2008, 10 tracks two music videos and downloadable desktop  wallpapers.

Except for the first album, which was first released with the Thirty Days of  Night label, all three were released under Visible Noise. And speaking of   record labels and producers, the band is under contract with Visible Noise in the United Kingdom, the Epitaph Records in the U.S. and the Shock Records in Australia. It is expected that with such a wide range of coverage across   three continents, the Bring Me the Horizon merch sales will also have a wider audience.

Death-core Genre:  Bring Me the Horizon’s music is a combination of death metal and metal core, which is characterized by growls and screams with metal core vocals, along with the muted riffs and dissonance. With musical influences from The Red Chord, Norma Jean and other American metal-core acts, they are set apart from other death-core bands because of their musical techniques. Besides the immense vocals and massive riffs, blistering percussion and tempo changes, shredding solos are part of their unique style.

Sales of the merch are expected to enjoy the benefit of their cemented reputation, in addition to awards the band has amassed. They include the Kerrang!’s Award for Best British Newcomer (2006) and the nomination of the band for the Award for Best British Band (2008). Bring Me the Horizon may have a solid direction towards the halls of metal legends because of their unique style and focus on songwriting.

Here is One Fast Approach to Learn Guitar Chords

Singing Lessons No Comments »

If you would like to become a skilled guitarist, you must first master the most basic guitar chords. If you manage to pick up how the basic chords work on a guitar, you’ll be able to quickly start playing sogns. The most simple approach for playing chords is by using a chord diagram to play the guitar, and these are typically found in most music books.

It’s essential to figure out exactly how a guitar works before you can start learning chords. Your guitar has a handle-like protrusion called the next, which has horizontal lings on it know as frets; six strings run across them down the length of the neck to the guitar’s body. On the diagrams you’ll see black dots on the strings and between frets, which are showing you where you’ll place your fingers. For instance, to form a C major you’d take your first finger and press it against the 5th string in the 1st fret, then your second finger against the 3rd string in the 2nd fret, and your third finger against the 2nd string in the 3rd fret. On top of the chord diagram, you will see the letter x which means don’t strum that string, or o meaning play it.

The foundation of all music is found in the five cornerstone chords. They are A, C, D, E, and G, which you can remember as CAGED. You’ll be able to play with these chords a bit once you have them down and memorized. You will know if you’re not holding the string down hard enough if you hear a buzzing sound, so listen to yourself strumming. While you practice, experiencing pain in your fingertips until calluses develop should come as no surprise to you.

Keeping your fingernails clipped is recommended by guitar experts to be able to hold the strings down properly. Only let your finger tip hit the string when you want to hit a specific fret, so that the rest of your finger isn’t preventing the other strings from playing. With five minutes of practice each day, you will need to hold down all notes at the same time while you play and strum the chords with your thumb. Aside from getting in ample practice, you should take time to learn more about the major chords and memorize all of them. The Guitar Superstars system can show you everything that you need to know. I really recommend you look into it.

Hollywood Undead & Dierks Bentley: Bad Music

Singing Lessons No Comments »

Usually people who love music want to like to write about music they love (in my case that would be bands like The Velvet Underground, The Band, & The Flaming Lips.) But sometimes it’s fun to talk about bad music. In fact in some ways it’s more fun. And it’s certainly much easier to find. Just check out MySpace music to see what I mean. It’s most annoying for me that most of the worst “artists” I’ve listened to on MySpace is also among the most popular.

Hollywood Undead has to be the worst example of this. They are incredibly bad and even more incredibly popular. I mean I know it’s normal for “the kids” to be into awful music, but isn’t this just taking it a bit too far? At least most of the awful music of the past had at least some redeeming value. Sure Milli Vanilli was cheesy but their songs were catchy and had some good production values. But with Hollywood Undead there is not even a hint of quality to be found.

But they certainly are not all alone in the universe of crap music.

How about country pop singer Dierks Bentley? Have you heard this guy? He’s amazingly awful. I had heard his name before but had never checked out his music before as I have no interest in country pop but one day I came across his latest single “Feel That Fire” and I was just floored because it was so much worse than I thought it would be. And that really is saying a lot because I thought it would be flat out horrendous. But no, it’s much worse than that.

It’s no big deal that people are releasing bad music. There’s nothing new about that. The big deal to me is that so many people actually think this is good music. Why is that? How can people be so amazingly clueless about music?

American Idol is the easy to blame culprit. And I’m sure that does have a part to play. Now millions of people think that having a pretty voice is the only thing that matters. This means these are people who have no way of understanding music with any depth or any real artistic value.

But really it must go much deeper than that. After all, it’s not like people liking bad music is an entirely new thing. The masses are always attracted to the easy to swallow garbage that usually fills the top forty every week. And it’s the true music that real music lovers listen to and that lasts for years.

Obviously there will be no one listening to anyone from American Idol or Dierks Bentley in 50 years (except out of pure nostalgia or as a joke) while people will still be getting into the music of true musical geniuses like The Beatles & Wilco.

Vocal And Singing Tips And Techniques

Vocal Training No Comments »

Having a beautiful voice is not enough reason for starting a singing career. As most singers will tell you, it takes a large amount of vocal exercises and training to get the powerful voices professional singers use.

If you?re contemplating a singing career, then the first thing you must learn is how to breathe properly. Air is the most important part of singing, and controlling it properly is the cornerstone of all vocal training tips. For example, do you ever wonder why babies have such loud bellows even though they are so small? This is because unlike grown-ups, babies breathe correctly without conscious thought. Adults are usually lazy, meaning they only use the upper portion of their lungs when breathing.

How to Breathe Properly

To use our lungs at full capacity, there are available vocal exercises that may be employed. First, place your hands directly above your belly button. If you inhale, you should feel this portion of your body expanding slowly, inflating upwards to your chest. If you can?t do this, then chances are you are not breathing properly.

Now, let?s move on to the exercise. Lie flat on your back; place your hands at your waist, fingers pointing towards the bellybutton and inhale. Pay close attention to your body. You should be able to feel your stomach expanding first, working its way up to your chest, back and sides. Then, exhale slowly at the count of 5. Do this twenty times per day, preferably ten in the morning and ten at night.

Vocal Training Tips

Once you?ve learned how to breathe properly, it?s time to hit a few notes. Choose a particular note and try to maintain it while exhaling in one breath. Try avoiding high notes since these can cause your throat tremendous strain. You can try holding the note a little bit longer each time, around 25 seconds or more.

One reason why a particular song is so enjoyable is because of the nuances in the singers tone. They can hit it up or lower it depending on the demands of the song. With practice, you can also perfect this technique. Try exhaling and going for zero to normal volume within one breathing. Repeat this for a number of times and pretty soon you?ll get used to the action.

However, these are only the basics of vocal training. The only person who can really judge how a person sings is the one who listens. Hence, you can try recording your voice and replaying it to catch the flaws in your style. A singing coach will be able to help you more, especially since they can pinpoint a flaw and polish it using their own techniques. Training would also involve how you shape your mouth when singing, gestures and facial expressions. These are usually the finishing touches that turn a performance into star quality.

Keep in mind that singing involves a lot of things aside from carrying a tune.

It requires the same degree of determination that you might give your weight loss training or your college studies.
